Martine Murray was born and raised in the high country of New Zealand. She became a bestselling author and motivational speaker after her first book, The Way to Happiness: A Guide to Happiness, was published in 1950. Her best-selling books include: The Girl's Own Book of Happiness; Good Old Days; The Way to Happiness: A Guide to Happiness; and the revised edition of the Girl's Own Book of Happiness. Murray died of cancer on May 11, 1988, at the age of 79.
